Well, I haven't gotten any farther on my president's quilt, but since it is President's Day I am inspired to work on it sometime today.

Dancing Geckos

So now I have UFO #3 done for 2007-Dancing Geckos! This one was very fun. I found the pattern at Quiltville.com and made it all from fabric I had on hand. It was the Bricks and Stepping Stones pattern with the braid border. I really like the way it came out. I'm not sure what I will do with it. I did my own machine quilting on this one and I am still practicing that technique, so the back of the quilt is far from great looking, although I do think the front looks fine. These are my favorite kind of colors-especially for this time of year-bright! With all this snow, although fun for skiing and sledding, it's not very colorful to look at, these colors are a bit cheerful. So 3 down! This is a record for me!

All the President's Men

So here are all the presidents that I have done. All the ones up to Chester Arthur. I hope to have him finished by the end of the week and get Grover Cleveland started. I have to get going with this project or we will have elected another president before it is done. I was lucky they elected George again which gave me 4 more years to finish but now I really have to get going! I hope to do one or two presidents a week then I will get it done in time. Hopefully posting these here will motivate me a bit more. If I make myself note my progress maybe I'll work harder to finish it up! Let's see how far I get next week!

Quilts of Valor

Here is a picture of a few blocks that Zack has done for his Quilt of Valor. I am not sure when it will be done, hopefully he can get a few more blocks done over February break. He picked out this pattern and we decided red, white and blue would be best colors. I read that the soldiers prefer the red, white and blue quilts best. I really like the way it looks in these colors. I found this pattern at Quiltville.com and it looked like an easy pattern that Zack could do. I am doing the cutting and ironing and he is doing the sewing. I think whoever gets it will enjoy it!

Zack's quilt done!

So my 2nd finish for the year is done. I sent out Zack's Asian quilt (2nd one, this one for the bottom bunk) out last Monday and got it back on Thursday, which seems unheard of, seeing that that included two days of traveling through the mail. She must have received the top, quilted it, and got it out all in one day! Anyway I think it came out pretty nice. I put the border on and handsewed it around the edge today since we had a snow day. I was so glad it was a snow day, it was so nice to hang out, watch movies and finish a quilt. Zack and I watched the Goblet of Fire again. Getting excited for July. It's going to be a great month, new book and new movie!

So I am pretty happy about that. Also, I started to machine quilt my Brick and Stones quilt, or my "dancing gecko" quilt. I tried to get it quilted on my handi quilter, but that just really frustrated me. I took it all apart and decided I should just get rid of it. So now I have the quilt all pin basted and have about 1/5 of it just meander quilted. We'll see how it turns out. Hopefully I get that done this week too. I'd love to get all my UFO's done before summer hits. That would be awesome. Of course I don't really think I'll get the president quilt completely done before the end of the year, but hopefully I'll get a lot of work done on it. I'll post some pictures of that one next time.
