crazies

Here are some pictures of embroideries I have done with my quilt blocks lately. Maybe someday I'll actually finish these blocks up and make them into a quilt. I keep working on them a little at a time.

UFO finish #5 for 2007

Last night I finished my scrappy trips quilt from quiltville.com's pattern that I started last summer. I machine quilted it and washed it up last night so it got all crinkly-it doesn't look too bad. I need to keep practicing the machine quilting but it's getting better. Now I have to work on some projects that were not UFO's-the Mexican quilt before cinco de mayo and a birthday quilt and Cody's quilt for gram. I told him I would finish it up for him so he could give it to her for Mother's Day. He got the top pretty much done so I said I would finish it for him.
Since it's a snow day today, hopefully I can get a few things done on a couple of quilts. Now that we have the power back, that is! It got awfully cold here this morning! I was still glad it was a day off though, while the power was off I took a little nap. That was good because I was up at 5 listening to hear if the school was going to be closed and I didn't hear the announcement until 7 and I had already gotten Zack up to take a shower.

Here is a picture of the scrappy trips quilt with a few frogs for the little kids on Saturday after the Easter egg hunt. I just need to put a binding on this and a label and I will have one more UFO off my list. Then I need to work on a couple of quilts that need to be done for May that are not on my UFO list. The one from the Mexican quilt class and the other that is a birthday gift. I will post those when they are done and ready to put up and send to the recipient!
This scrappy trips quilt I machine quilted myself. I am getting better but by no means is it even close to perfect. I will keep practicing.
I also did a bit of work on my crazy quilt. Maybe I will take a pictureof those blocks for next time.

blogs, frogs and scrappy trips

I havent blogged in a while. I havent really had anything to post about. Been so busy with other stuff I havent been working much in the sewing room. This weekend I had a bit of time there so I thought I would update a bit.
Well, I just finished machine quilting the scrappy trips quilt and I have almost finished the pink frog for Molly. I need to add eyes and stuff him then he'll be all ready for the Easter egg hunt prize. I will post pictures tomorrow. Once I finish the binding and put the label on the scrappy trips quilt I'll have one less UFO on my list. I wonder which quilt I will do next? I guess I am going at about 1 per month, but unless I spend a lot more time it won't continue at that rate. I have my crazy quilt and my president's quilt which both need a lot of hand stitching time. Plus I have two quilts in progress that were started after 2007 started so the are not on the official UFO list. One is the Mexican quilt which I would like to finish before the Cinco de Mayo party and the other one is a gift I have to get made for a May birthday so I guess I really need to get going seeing that today is the first day of April already!

frogs!

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

I have been trying to upload this picture for over a week. I dont know what was wrong with my computer/this blogger but I was about to give up. Imagine my surprise when I tried one last time! Well here is the hawaiian turtle quilt. I think it's kinda cute. I have now moved on to doing some quilted frog bean bags. Well I guess they will be bean bags right now they aren't quite there yet. But the first one I did is so cute. I think I will do a few for the nieces and nephews. I made a blue one the other night. I have the pattern all ready to go for another couple of green ones and then one purple one.

Well, the frog posted above the turtle, oh well. I guess now I know how it works. Anyway, I think he's cute. I think I am going to go make a few more-they are just so cute. They do look a little better in real life.

Well now I know this works I'll write more later.

Hawaiian Turtle Quilt

This is my Hawaiian Turtle quilt. I got the pattern in Kauai when we were there in the summer of 2004. It is a Lisa Boyer pattern. I like the turtles in the hawaiian print best. It looks like this quilt is done, but it has a few inches of binding yet to go. I hope to have it finished by the end of the weekend though. I have a new project started and this one has been hanging out there for a while waiting to get done. I want to applique a few leftover turtles to the back of the quilt also. When I went to baste the layers I didnt do a great job and there is some puckering on the back, so I hope to cover them with turtles. I was so anxious to practice some more machine quilting, I didnt take the time I should have to pull the backing really tight while basting.
Well, blogger won't let me upload the picture so I will next time.
